　ファンクやディスコが全盛だった70年代を象徴するグループ、アース・ウィンド＆ファイヤー。R&B/ファンク/ソウル/ジャズなどのジャンルを融合させ、新たなポップミュージックの世界を開拓。「SEPTEMBER」「Fantasy」「Boogie Wonderland」など多くのヒット曲を残しています。中心メンバーだったモーリス・ホワイトは2016年に他界しましたが、現在でも不動の人気を誇る彼らの名盤を、磨きのかかった高音質でお楽しみください。

　1969年シカゴにて、モーリス・ホワイト(Vo)が前身となるグループ「ソルティ・ペパーズ」を結成。翌年、拠点をL.A.に移し、グループ名を「アース・ウインド＆ファイアー」に改名、アルバム『EARTH, WIND & FIRE』でデビューします。その後、弟のヴァーディン・ホワイト(B)やフィリップ・ベイリー(Vo)らが加入し、多人数の大所帯バンドとして活動、グラミー賞受賞の「Shining Star」をはじめ、「Serpentine Fire」「Fantasy」「September」など数多くのヒット曲を生み出しました。力強いファンクとラテン音楽を融合させたサウンド、ツインヴォーカルと重厚なホーンセクションによって生まれる極上のグルーヴ感で、70年代を代表するR&Bグループとしてその地位を確立しました。
