　ブラック・ミュージックのみならず、アメリカのポップス界を代表するアーティスト、スティーヴィー・ワンダー。
　1950年アメリカ・ミシガン州、視力がない代わりに音楽の才能を持って生まれたスティーヴィーは、12歳で早くもモータウンレコードと契約、アルバム『Fingertips』でデビューします。70年代に入ると、シンセサイザーなどの電子楽器も駆使して斬新なサウンドを創出。『Talking Book』『Innervisions』『Songs in the Key of Life』等の名作アルバムを次々に発表してきました。
　ジャズ／レゲエ／フュージョン／ロック／ファンク／ソウル……あらゆる要素を融合した美しく壮大なメロディと、トレードマークでもあるビートに合わせて首を左右に振る仕草。スティーヴィー・ワンダーは聴く者を喜びの渦へ巻きこむ、現代音楽史上最高のスーパー・スターなのです。
